Gay Rights and the FamilyTheological and philosophical teachings homosexuality, say that a homosexual orientation cannot be sinful in and of itself. Homosexual urgings are similar to other human weaknesses, in that they constitute an unnatural and unhealthy manifestation of the fallen human nature, like urgings for normal sex, drugs, and excessive food and alcohol.

The homosexual urge can only cause damage to the person's soul if he caves in and acts on his desires, in the same manner that an alcoholic does no damage to himself until he begins to drink.
In truth, homosexuals who are chaste and who successfully struggle against their urges through a lifetime of self-discipline are to be admired. So the simple fact that someone has a homosexual orientation is not "bad", unless the person acts on that orientation.
Now comes a bill that supports gay orientation. House Bill 7165 or the Lesbian and Gay Rights Act of 1999 filed by Congresswoman Bellaflor J. Angara Castillo of Aurora Province, will now allow same-sex marriage (also termed Domestic Partnerships). Under the bill, gay and lesbian partners will be allowed to adopt and the surviving partner is entitled to inheritance, SSS and insurance benefits and all rights that our law has been giving to legally married persons.
The Bill also requires schools to take into consideration the "special requirements of lesbians and gays in the formulation of educational policies and programs. At least 5% of the allocation for the Private Education Student Financial Assistance Program shall be set aside for gay students". It also wants the Department of Health to ensure that all its programs will have the necessary capabilities to assist the medical and health needs of lesbian and gays all over the country.
But do gays and lesbians have special needs? A different rest room that is not marked Men or Women? Gays argue that they are a minority seeking justice, just like the black African Americans. This analogy does not hold: blacks are a minority because of their race and the color of their skin, not because of their behavior.
Homosexuals are a minority because of their behavior. There is such a phenomenon as a "former homosexual" but there is no "former black American". Homosexuals are not being denied the right to vote, to own property, or to education as the ordinary citizen is entitled.
Is homosexuality something that you are, like being black, elderly, disabled or female or is it something that you do, like adultery, drinking alcohol or drug abuse? Those who practice these latter behavior have certainly been discriminated against but they are not linked to the demand for civil rights.
Born Gay? Majority of homosexuals believe they were born "gay". This belief often supplies them with comfort, relieving them of any responsibility to change. However, there is no credible scientific evidence that people are born homosexuals. The overwhelming majority of gay people are completely normal genetically. They are fully male or female.
What psychologists believe is that the tremendous variablity in sexual beliefs and practices around the world suggest that sexuality is a learned or cultural part of the human condition. Homosexuality is a learned behavior which is influenced by a number of factors: a disrupted family life in early years, a lack of unconditional love on the part of either parent, a failure to identify with the same-sex parent. Later these problems can result in a search for love and acceptance, envy of the same or opposite sex, a life controlled by various fears, and feelings of isolation. One thing that does seem clear: homosexuality is brought about by a multitude of root causes.
Why the Lesbian and Gay Act must be opposedThere are logical reasons why the "gay rights" movement in general and homosexual activities in particular p resent extreme dangers to individual and societal health and freedom. The following paragraphs briefly describe the primary threats:
For one, "Lesbian and Gay Rights" Act Is a Public Health Disaster. From a practical standpoint, anyone who is concerned wit h public or individual health must oppose any activity that significantly and adversely affects the health of a large group of people.
Perhaps the greatest physical threat posed by the homosexual movement is the fact that it is the most efficient transmitter of all sexuality-transmitted diseases (STDs) known to humanity. According to the April 1987 British Journal of Sexual Medicine homosexuals are commonly crippled by a variety of venereal diseases due to perverse homosexual practices.
One of the objectives of the "lesbian and gay rights" act is, quite simply, to allow promiscuous homosexuals to practice their perversions without legal or moral restraint. If it attains its goal of public acceptance, many more people will be pulled into this perverse deathstyle. Second , the "Gay Rights" Act Is Predatory. Studies show that the most pitiful victims the "gay rights" pioneers all over the world are young and defenseless boys.
In the United States for example, there exist at least a half-dozen organized pedophile groups with international memberships, including the Pedophile International Exchange (PIE) and the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). All these groups lobby for the total elimination of age-consent laws so they can victimize children legally.
The "Gay Rights Act Degrades Society. For years, homosexuals have been demanding the redefinition of the family to include same s ex marriages. To elevate a gaggle of homosexuals to the same status enjoyed by the family is to degrade and even ridicule the status of the traditional family unit. To place homosexual marriages on the same moral and financial footing as traditional marriages will adversely impact society in a profound manner, because when evil is officially placed on the same level as good, eventually society in general actually loses the capability of distinguishing between good and evil.
The "Gay Rights" Act Completely Disregards the Rights of Others. "Gay rights laws, by their very nature, are discriminatory and give one group legal protection that other normal citizens do not enjoy, and this protection is based solely on the preferred group's behavior. Such laws can only cause resentment and backlash and create a proliferation of case law that itself leads to judicial and legal logjams, conflicts and confusion.
Homosexuals are Not a Legal Minority. All minorities that have achieved protection under the law are defined by race, gender, and national origin, not by their behavior. To give a group a special protection just because it acts differently from other groups is ridiculous on its face.
The "Gay Rights" Act Opposes Bible and Christian Moral Teachings. The Bible states clearly that homosexual behavior is a sin: Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Timothy 1:9-10.
In upholding the dignity of people, the Catholic church teaches that any homosexual activity annuls the true and proper meaning o f human sexuality according to the plan of God which is intended to find its place exclusively between a man and a woman for the purpose of pro-creation. It is in this sense that the church teaches that there can be no moral right to homosexual acts, even if they are no longer held to be criminal in many secular legal systems.
Hope for HomosexualsThe homosexual belief that society should accept their sexuality because they have no control over their homosexuality, is a myth. Studies in homosexual psychology by Hymie Rubenstein, Ph.D., (Life-Site Daily News) reveal that most gay men have had sexual relations with women and many convert to heterosexuality every year. Even if all people are innately bisexual, as most radical gay/lesbian activists' claim, either normal socialization or specialized therapy and counseling have succeeded in channeling this bisexuality into heterosexuality in 70 percent of cases. Even if all homosexuals actually had no choice in being homosexual, this still does not automatically make their lifestyle socially or morally equivalent to heterosexuality.
Gays and lesbians need our understanding and assistance towards healing whatever dysfunctions they have experienced in childhood. However, real understanding and assistance is not shown by pretending that homosexual behavior is normal and healthy by supporting the house bill on lesbian and gay rights act. We are not expected to relate to alchoholics by glorifying their alcoholism or to drug addicts by celebrating their addiction. Tolerating homosexuals to remain in a gay lifestyle is a betrayal of our mission to bring God\rquote s compassion to our brothers and sisters and allowing them to further destroy themselves and society. The long list of ex-homosexual members of Exodus International Bagong Pag-asa, Christ-centered ministries for homosexuals, testify to the truth that men and women can step out of homosexuality into wholeness.
These ex-homosexuals claim that deliverance comes from a person, in Jesus Christ, and a whole new life founded on the truth and reality of God's word.
