One hundred seventy stalwart supporters of Pro-Life Philippines Foundation Inc (Pro-Life) gathered and feasted on a bountiful buffet during the “Dinner for Life,” Pro-Life’s fundraising activity held last March 29 at Palm Grove, Rockwell Clubhouse. Pro-Life Executive Director Marita Wasan expressed her joy and appreciation over the good turh-out of the event.

“This just goes to show that the pro-life advocacy in the Philippines is still very much alive and well-backed up by these people such as those who came in this event,” Wasan said.

The said event was launched to raise funds for the foundation. As a non-profit and non-government organization, Pro-Life depends largely upon the charity of its benefactors to fuel its existing projects and programs such as its pregnancy counseling centers.

The guests arrived in the venue while being serenaded by the angelic voices of the Hiyas ng Pilipinas Chorale, a diverse group of public school students from the City of Manila, who emerged champions in the Himig ng Pasko Children’s choir competitions for the second straight year since 2007.

Two video presentations were shown in between the dinner. The first one was titled “Beacon of Light,” which featured clips from the various videos contained in the center’s archives. It highlighted the importance of the existence of an advocacy center such as Pro-Life in responding to the deteriorating values of the modern world most especially involving issues about life.

The second video showed clips from the The Atienza-Lagman Debate on the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill. It showed salient points from which Pro-Life President and Environment Secretary Lito Atienza was able to discuss with Albay Representative and the RH Bill author Edcel Lagman the disadvantages which could be brought about by the promulgations of the said bill

Present during the event are Pro-Life’s board members and their families and colleagues lead by Pro-Life Chairman and Meralco Foundation CEO and Vice-President Antonio Kosca, Pro-Life President and Environment Secretary Lito Atienza, and Pro-Life Spiritual Director and Founder Sr. Mary Pilar Verzosa, RGS.

Gracing the event also were members of the Board of Trustees such as TV host and producer Baby Nebrida-Ballesty, Light Rail Transit Authority Administrator Melquiades Robles, Wirecard Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer Esther Magleo, El Shaddai’s Michael Velarde, and Pro-Life Board Secretary and CFC Program Development Coordinator Xavier Padilla.
