C’est la Vie! (A Celebration of Life at the Prolife Youth Congress)

Dating, first kiss, relationships, and SEX. These are very interesting and very much resounding words to the youth today. But how about responsibility, true love that waits, virginity, and chastity? Do they ring a bell? I don’t think so. In fact, these words bring conflict and constant struggles to them as they face the very critical adolescent years.
The 2008 Prolife Youth Congress held at St. Paul College Pasig last February 23 tried to balance these issues and the youth participants were very much enlightened on what the best option is and what path to take in their journey. The very credible and reliable speakers provided the ideas and actions to realize this path-taking to a better appreciation of life and love and bringing courage to fight anti-life issues.

First, the speakers from I AM STRONG organization provided insights about dating and relationships from both the male and female sides. They emphasized that full respect and trust in a loving relationship can be achieved, therefore, living a life of chastity and avoiding wrongful acts such as premarital sex and eventually abortion.
Next, Mr. Ed Soretta made a very appealing talk about sexuality with his very interesting Power Point presentation showing many insights including the analogy between sex and ketchup. He also emphasized the sanctity of sexuality relating it, of course, to the creation story. Moreover, he presented the different effects of bad media that lead to desecration of life and love.
Another inspiring talk was made by Rizza Singson-Kawpeng, a known preacher and co-host of Kerygma TV with Bo Sanchez. She shared her experiences as a youth deciding to take the road less traveled of not having a boyfriend until she was ready and in the process realizing her vocation of devoting her life to the Lord. When she finally decided to get married after a series of searching for the right one, she was very blessed to have their first child considering their age when they got married. This was the very reason that she said to appreciate life more and make it a life worth living and not taking it away especially when he/she is still in the womb.
The keynote speaker of the event was one of the representatives of Buhay partylist in the Philippine Congress, Hon. Marissa Carissa O. Coscolluea. She mentioned the different challenges that the youth should face as they now become protectors of the dignity of life. Ultimately, she challenged the youth present there to accept the difficult responsibility of ensuring a present and better future with a great and utmost respect for the dignity of human life for generations to come.
At the end of the congress, I personally felt that all the participants were ready to proclaim that I am PROLIFE and I will take the best path in my life- the PROLIFE way!
