Malacañang expresses grief over fetus discovery incident
|
|
Malacañang on Thursday expressed sorrow over the discovery of a fetus inside one of the comfort rooms in the Palace compound earlier in the day.
|
In a statement, Presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye said they are hoping that the person responsible for dumping the fetus would realize the gravity of the action and that he/she would "seek atonement" for the act.
This, even as he assured that the incident is now being investigated by authorities.
"We are saddened by this incident which is now being investigated. We hold every human life sacred. We pray for the soul of this innocent child and hope that whoever was responsible for this, realizes the gravity of this deed and seek atonement," Bunye said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Presidential guards closed off a restroom inside a building in the Malacañang complex after a janitor discovered a fetus there.
The fetus was found dumped in the women's restroom in the New Executive Building (NEB) or "Borloloy Building" which houses the offices of several Palace officials as well as the press working area.
Authorities are checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to establish the identity of the person who left the fetus in the comfort room.
