MANILA, 7 December 2007― Former Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See and PPCRV Chair Henrietta De Villa called on all well-meaning citizens, Church, youth and civic leaders to support the Anti-Child Pornography and Anti-Piracy Caravan on Wednesday, feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 2007, which will begin at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Intramuros, Manila at 9:00 A.M.

Ambassador De Villa, chairman of the CBCP Ad-Hoc Committee Against Child Pornography said the event organized by the Optical Media Board under its Chairman Edu Manzano hopes to call on government, business and consumers to reject child pornography which exploits minors.
In an interview over Catholic-run Veritas 846, Ambassador De Villa said she appreciates the wide support from government, non-government organizations and the academe to inform the public of the evils of pornography and crimes committed on young Filipinos.
The caravan’s theme is “Pang-Abuso sa Kabataan Tutulan, Paglaganap ng Pornograpiya Tigilan.” It will have whistle-stops at known shopping malls and vcd and dvd outlets which gained notoriety for pirated and pornographic materials within Metro Manila. Flyers, hand-outs and other information materials will be distributed during the caravan.
Aside from the CBCP and the OMB, other institutions―the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, Caritas Manila, Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse, Gabriela, NORFIL Foundation, Children’s Rehabilitation Center, Girl Scouts of the Philippines―likewise expressed their all-out support for the event.
