Manila’s youth ministry to hold advent recollection

MANILA, 4 December 2007— The Archdiocese of Manila’s Ministry for Youth Affairs will host an advent recollection entitled “Adbiyento—paghihintay, pagbabalikloob, kapayapaan” on Saturday, December 15 from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the Cardinal Sin Auditorium, Paco Catholic School.

Fr. Rufino C. Sescon, Jr., Youth Affairs Minister said he expects youth ministers, leaders and youth from various schools and parishes to join the gathering which he calls an
occasion for renewal.
In a circular addressed to parish priests, youth coordinators, school heads, chaplains and student ministers among others, Fr. Sescon said at this season in the liturgical cycle, everyone is expected to prepare for the “real event that still lays ahead—the Second Coming of Christ in glory.”
He said the season calls for acts of self-denial, extra tasks, good works, almsgiving and prayers “not only serve to purify and strengthen but are a part of the offering of self which we will make to Christ at His great Christmas Mass, the celebration of His birthday.” (Melo Acuña)
