MANILA, In defense of family and life, the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (ECFL) of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines has urged bishops, priests, religious and laity of the country to organize a prayer rally for the family integrity on July 25.

“As our family and life values are once again threatened by the anti-family and anti-life forces, we wish to request all to join us in holding various programs for mobilization,” said Melvin P. Castro, executive secretary of ECFL.
In Manila on July 25, the “Prayer Rally for the Family and Life” will be held at the University of Sto. Thomas, at 3 p.m. onwards, which is the culmination of the Caravan for Family and Life, said Castro in a press note.
The priest also urged all to pray and fast for the protection of family and life.
The Family life Commission is organizing a series of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of Papal Encyclical “Humanae Vitae” (human life).
Pope Paul VI issued Humanae Vitae in 1968 at a time the world was witnessing a sexual revolution and the popularity of contraceptives.
Meanwhile, Pro-Life Philippines, headed by Sr. Mary Pilar L. Verzosa, RGS is going to hold two workshops in November and December this year.
The November activity (post-abortion syndrome healing and recovery – the hope alive approach) is an interfaith conference that focuses on training participants on post-abortion syndrome counseling, hosted by Pro-Life Philippines with speakers from Hope Alive Canada and Hope Alive Manila.
There are literally thousands of people in the Philippines today, both men and women, who are suffering from the effects of unresolved pregnancy losses, mostly by induced abortion. This may not be readily apparent. Yet, careful clinical observation indicates that these people are deeply wounded by confusing conflicts, intense emotions, personality handicaps, and progressive dehumanization.
The December Forum (the pornography plague) presents the status of pornography in the Philippines and its psychosocial effects especially on today’s youth, and counter pointed by a discussion on a biblical perspective of pornography and human sexuality. The Forum is highlighted with a discussion on how to combat pornography. Pornography is tearing apart the very fabric of society today. Yet, many are often ignorant of its impact and apathetic about the need to control this menace.
Pro-life Philippines is a lead organization in the country dedicated to promoting respect and care for human life from conception to natural death.
