CBCP to intensify advocacy against anti-life reproductive health bills

MANILA, The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said today that it would reinforce its advocacy against anti-life reproductive health bills that are pending in Congress.

Speaking at a press meet at San Carlos Seminary yesterday after their the 97th plenary, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said the Catholic Church in the country would certainly tap cooperation of different sectors and communities in order to thwart the passing of the pending reproductive health.
According to the Department of Health, an estimated 400,000 abortions occur in the Philippines every year because of unwanted pregnancy.
In the next plenary assembly in January 2009, CBCP would deliberate on environment issues, mining and rural congress, said Pabillo.
