LIPA CITY, To denounce what is commonly called “a comprehensive Anti-Life bill” in Congress and to show that the youth and their elders are steadfast promoters of the Culture of Life, the youth of the Archdiocese of Lipa will hold an Archdiocesan Youth Marian Rally for Life from 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the St. Francis de Sales College Seminary gym at Marawoy, Lipa City.

In a letter, written in the vernacular, addressed to all parish priests, Gamy Magpantay, acting president of the Archdiocesan Youth Commission, said that this rally would enlighten the youth on their duties and roles in combating the culture of death. This would also gather the youth in prayer, especially to the Blessed Mother Mary, as this is the most potent weapon against the prevailing culture of death.
The youth will listen to Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, Executive Director of Human Life Philippines, co-sponsor with the Archdiocesan Youth Commission of this rally. He will present the Threats and Challenges of Today’s Youth.
Fr. Melvin Castro, Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life of the CBCP will talk on Mary, Mother of Life while Fr. Dakila Ramos, AYC Director, will challenge the youth to Protect and Defend Your Life, Remain Chaste!
Fr. Eyong Ramos, parish priest of San Pascual Baylon and co-chair of this year’s Marian celebration, will tackle the topic “Mary, Model of Youth in Prayer”. Intermission numbers, Marian songs and animations will form part of the whole day congress.
Archbishop Ramon C. Arguelles will then preside over the Concelebrated Mass culminating the one-day youth rally.
In the meantime, in his message to the youth, the Archbishop extolled their initiative for the rally as he enjoined not only the parish priests but also the religious, lay leaders and the directors of Catholic schools to encourage the youth to join in this rally which has for its battle-cry “Halina, Kabataan, Samahang Ipagbunyi si Maria bilang Inang Tagapagtanggol at Tagapagtaguyod ng Buhay!”
In the same message, he lamented the support of one of the representatives of Batangas province who apparently lent his name as a co-author of the said anti-life bill.
The Archbishop said “to think that months ago, I have obtained from each of the four Batangueño lawmakers that they are all pro-Life and will never support bills that are anti-God, anti-Life and anti-Family.” The outspoken leader of the Archdiocese of Lipa did not name the legislator in his message.
