  • Church leaders praise junking of same-sex union

Church leaders in the Philippines have welcomed a court ruling junking the same-sex union petition with “finality”. The Supreme Court upheld an earlier decision to reject the petition that seeks to allow same-sex union in the predominantly Catholic country. The petition, according to SC, lacked “substantial arguments” to warrant the reversal of its earlier ruling. Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the auxiliary of Manila, praised the ruling and urged the public to instead deal on pressing issues like poverty, unemployment and climate change. “We should focus on these (issues),” Pabillo said. Bishop Honesto Ongtioco of Cubao said the Church will…

Dear Brethren : Thank you for the support you have extended in making the first March for Mary, Life and the Filipino    Family a success. We now have established a tradition of having the March on the day of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception which we hope will be a practice too for all our parishes and dioceses. This is a fitting celebration of Mary’s continuing significance to the life of the Filipino nation and its pro-God, pro-life and pro-family people. Indeed this is a most relevant and wonderful national holiday on December 8 of every year, hence. Maraming…

Everyone must respect the basic human rights of all human beings, pope says

Dec 14, 2018

VATICAN— The fundamental rights of all human beings, especially the most vulnerable, must be respected and protected in every situation, Pope Francis said, marking Human Rights Day, Dec. 10. “While a part of humanity lives in opulence, another part sees their dignity denied, ignored or infringed upon and their fundamental rights ignored or violated,” he said. Such a contradiction leads one to ask “whether the equal dignity of all human beings — solemnly proclaimed 70 years ago — is truly recognized, respected, protected and promoted in every circumstance,” he said in a written message. The message was read aloud by…

Parents of ‘miracle’ micro-preemie thankful to bring home healthy girl

Nov 29, 2018

Pearly Jo (“PJ”) was born at 23 weeks gestation, weighing just 1.1 pounds, and was considered a “micro-preemie,” and is the youngest baby to survive at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in McKinney, Texas. But she proved she was a fighter when she let out “three huge cries” as she was born, according to her mother, shocking everyone in the delivery room. Born on Independence Day 2018, the tiny girl named after her great-grandmother amazingly never got an infection and never had to have surgery, though she did experience a brain bleed, something not uncommon among extremely premature babies. Now she’s…
