Mila (not her real name), 16 years old, ran away from home because of her physically abusive father. She would find shelter from one house to another, mostly with her friends. She became part of a gang, thinking that the gang would protect her from violence. Instead, she was forced to have sexual relations with many of the gang members, and eventually she got pregnant. She was on the verge of suicide when she saw a poster which read: PREGNANT? NEED HELP? She immediately dialed the number on the poster, and upon the suggestion of the counselor, she agreed to go to the Pro-Life office in Legarda. Today, she is the mother of a healthy young boy who is turning seven this month.

Aubrey (not her real name), 18, was a promising college student in one of the schools in the university belt. She was a consistent dean’s lister and was active in her extra-curriculars. One day, she found out that she was pregnant by her boyfriend, who made a quick exit out of her life and never talked to her again after she told him of her baby. Her parents were even trying to convince her to abort the baby. Fortunately, she had confided to a good friend of hers who told her to go to Pro-Life for counseling. Thirteen years later, her daughter would graduate at the top of her class, and she had married a very supportive man who loved her so much.

Two women. Two totally different lives who took different paths, two women who needed help at their lowest. Both women say that their children were the best thing that ever happened in their lives.

Pro-life was there for them, as well as countless other women for the past 35 years.

Pro-Life Philippines has four counseling centers in the country: in the Pro-Life office in Legarda, Manila; the St. Gerard Family Life Center in Baclaran; the San Juan de Dios center in Quiapo; and the counseling center in Baguio. This year, from January to September, a total of 1,259 counselees have been welcomed in our various offices and centers:

Legarda – 188 counselees

Baclaran – 494 counselees

Baguio – 169 counselees

Quiapo – 408 counselees

It is very important for people to know that women in crisis can turn to Pro-Life Philippines and provide them with professional and confidential counseling services. Please help us spread the word – that we care for life, and we care for men and women in crisis. Here are some ways you can help us save lives and be partners with Pro-Life Philippines in this huge endeavor of preserving life, family and marriage:

  • Download the image below, have it printed, and ask permission from your local school and parish to have it posted on their bulletin boards. It is important that people are aware that Pro-Life Philippines offers counseling services, especially the young ones who might be too mortified to talk to their elders, relatives, teachers, and family about their problems. You could also upload the image to your Facebook and Instagram so that your Social Media circles would be aware too.
