One Hundred Attend Pro Life Seminar

Last September 14, 2013, Pro Life Philippines held a seminar entitled “Effective Teen Counseling Techniques” at the St. Joseph Retreat House in Sampaloc, Manila. It was attended by a hundred participants – parish and community workers, teachers, catechists, various clergy, and concerned parents. The speaker, Mrs. Amparo de Guzman, MAEd Guidance and Counseling, RGC, stressed on the importance of active listening to the young as well as paying attention to how they express their feelings as crucial to understanding the real sentiments of the youth of today.

This seminar, which was part of the Pro Life Lecture Series, was originally part of the summer training called “Teaching Teachers on Teen Sexuality”. Because of the demand to repeat the said talk, Pro Life Philippines invited a lot of schools, parishes, and communities to a repeat of that talk on September 14. The response was very overwhelming. A lot of people faxed and called Pro Life in order to reserve slots for themselves for the talk. Unfortunately, due to the capacity of the venue, Pro Life had to turn down many more who wanted to attend, although a repeat of the same talk may be feasible within the next few months due to the high demand for a seminar and workshop to develop a crucial skill.

It is absolutely important for us not only to reach out the youth but to empower them through education and values formation. The pro-choice, pro-abort lobbyists have already started the corruption of many of our youth, instilling in them the ideologies of moral relativisim, modernism, and feminism, all of which are pillars of the Culture of Death that is being propagated in our schools and in the media. This article from the Pinoy Templars blog details how foreign lobbyists have a very highly-organized way of re-educating our young people, making them peer counselors and trainors, spreading the Gospel of Death in their communities. These lobbyists are willing to spend so much, even to the point of sending these young people to other countries in order for them to receive their pro-choice education.

Meanwhile, our camp has been asleep for the most part. In this so-called Year of Faith, we really have to step up in the education and catechism of our brethren in order to deepen their knowledge of our Christian faith and therefore deepen their relationship with Christ. We must not allow ourselves to grow content with fighting the last war – we have to be a step ahead of the enemies of life in order for us to win this culture war that we, so far, are losing.
