Buhay Mahalin. RH Supilin. This was the official theme of the Festive Rally for Life held 9 July, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Padre Faura St., in front of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

Around 500 Paulinian 1st and 3rd year students, faculty and staff with participants from University of Sto. Tomas, Siena College Quezon City, Rosary for Life, Don Bosco Mandaluyong, San Sebastian College Recoletos-Cavite, Rogationist Seminary, and Ang Kapatiran party list, rallied against Republic Act (R.A) 10354.

Anna Cosio, a graduate of B.S. in Nursing in SPU Manila led the praying of the rosary with Mike Mapa. Cosio and Mapa are both volunteers of Filipinos for Life (F4L).

The rally, which revolved on the celebration of life, also gave talks on pro-life.

Unity in Diversity

Although participants hailed from different institutions and organizations, all were united to defend and support the pro-life cause.

“I am here to accompany my students, because all of us are advocating for the purity and sacredness of life. Being a Christian, I am called to defend and promote life in all levels,” said Mr. Jonathan Tupaz, a faculty of SPU Manila’s Religious Education program.

Rolly de los Reyes, Courage Philippines member, expressed his view that, “What we need is not sex education but chastity education.”  Courage Philippines is an apostolate of the Roman Catholic Church that provides spiritual support for men and women with same-sex attractions who desire to develop lives of interior chastity in union with Christ.

We are here fighting for life, not only for life but most probably for human dignity. Kahit na maging batas pa yan (Even if it becomes a law), we will not follow because we have one boss–that is God. We know that the Divine Law is higher than any law,” Fabian Paulo Sandile, a seminarian, emphasized.

The pro-life prayer rally was organized by F4L, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) founded by Anthony Perez through Facebook.

Pro-Life Philippines Foundation, Inc is a non-profit, nationwide organization that functions as an Educational body coordinating pro-life groups, providing information on life issues it also functions as a political and legislative lobby group that advances the principles and policies with the pro-life and pro-family cause.
