Open Letter for Children and Parents

Children, everything that you experience right now is just a preparation for what is more to come. Work hard. Study hard. Do your best. Continue to believe in yourself.

Trust me. Whatever you are experiencing right now is lesser compared to what awaits for you in real life. Real life is not something that you read in Fairy Tales, nor watched in Movies and K-Dramas.

Life is not only about sunshines.
Sometimes, life needs rains.
A life full of sunshines only makes a desert. Dull. Meaningless. Pointless.

Do not make the Leftist Ideologies of Liberalism, Communism and Socialism as an excuse not live life, as an excuse not to sacrifice the mulberry trees for the plum trees, as an excuse not to study hard, as an excuse to fight back to your parents or teachers when they are trying to correct you or to discipline you to become a better person.

Parents, do not spoil your children. By making it not hard for them in the present, you are just making it hard for them to live independently in the future. Prepare them now. You will not always be there forever.

When they find it hard doing their home works, help them but do not do it for them. Help them to learn.

While young, teach them that nothing can be achieved in real life without patience. While technology gives an illusion of instant gratification, success in real life is rarely achieved through instant gratification.

Not everything that gives pleasure to the senses is good and not everything that gives displeasure is bad.

A sweet candy though pleasurable to the senses but if left unchecked may lead to tooth decay

Sex though pleasurable to the senses but if left unchecked may lead to unwanted pregnancy.

Carrying weights though unpleasurable to the senses may yield to good muscle tone.

A bitter herb though unpleasurable to the senses treats a sickness well.

While young, raise them to be brave, to be responsible for their actions, to face the consequences of their decisions. Life is meant to be lived forwards not backwards.

Strive to be a good example. Do not be a parent that you wanted, but be a parent that you needed when you were a child.

Cultivate in them the virtues and values of what a good citizen should be, them who shall be the next generation of our country.

Prepare them for what is ahead in real life.

Children, honor your parents. Parents, love your children. It is by having a family that loves one another creates a beautiful society.

Tomorrow, they will create their own families. Parents, while they are young, cultivate in them good family values.

Children, please break the cycle of a dysfunctional family. One day, create a solid family that will make tomorrow a beautiful society.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Your Social Conservative Friend,

J.M. Benavidez Estoque,
