Many of us have been fighting for the right to life for so many years now that some of us can be labeled as hardcore. But what exactly is a hardcore pro-lifer, or to be more exact, a hardcore Pinoy pro-lifer?

Take this simple test and see for yourself.

1. You stay up late at night arguing with someone/some people on Facebook about the RH bill.

2. The first thing you do upon waking up is to visit that thread.

3. You have multiple Facebook accounts for participating in these kinds of debates.

4. Out of the last 3 big pro-life, anti-RH rallies, you have attended 4.

5. You consider yourself as a “Christian Soldier” and refer to our fight for life as “battles”

6. You make repeated references to dialogue in “The Lord of the Rings” and often imagine yourself as a Jedi Knight.

7. You have an uncanny knack for remembering the Total Fertility Rate of countries, especially those below replacement level.

8. You nonchalantly talk about the mechanisms of action of the contraceptive pill over lunch with colleagues.

9. You ‘re the only one within a ten-mile radius who knows what contraceptive pills and asbestos have in common.

10. You start to consider home schooling your kids.

11. You spent days crying and locked in your room after Obama was re-elected.

12. You were disappointed that Ang Kapatiran didn’t make it to the top 12 in the elections…

13. …but rejoiced when you learned that Risa Hontiveros and Ang Ladlad didn’t win either.

14. You use anecdotes like “Did you know that there are more adult diapers than diapers for babies in Japan?” in your small talk.

15. You ‘re suspicious of PDI, Star, and Rappler.

16. You know who Jane Roe is. And her real name.

17. You tell your wife that you should be having at least 2.1 children.

18. You have subscriptions to “lifesitenews” , “Human Life International” and 41 other pro-life sites.

19. You started a pro-life fan page/group in Facebook page with the cheesiest of titles like “Guardians for Life” or “Crusaders for the Dignity of Life”.

20. You see your friend wearing something purple and the first thing that comes to your mind is: “Pro-RH!”

21. There are two NO TO RH stickers on your car, one in front, one at the back. Just in case.

22. You get angry when people tell you that the Illuminati and the New World Order are just conspiracy theories.

23. You stopped watching TV years ago.

24. You have boycotted Starbucks.

25. Your local convenience store clercs know you as “the dude/lady who asked the condoms to be stashed away out of reach of kids.”

*************************************

If you scored:

1-7 – You are a Pro-life Padawan. It’s likely that you are new to the pro-life advocacy; it’s far-fetched that for a pro-life veteran not do at least 8 of the things above.

8-16 – You are a Pro-life warrior. You have fought many battles defending life from conception to natural death. Your friends officially find you weird. Onward, Christian Soldier!

17-25 – You are a Pro-life Paragon. The pro-life advocacy runs in your veins, and many learn from your teachings and examples. You are truly hardcore. Can we borrow your Lord of the Rings collection?

By the morning of May 14, a day after the elections, there was only one thing in the minds of the Catholics:

“What happened to the Catholic Vote?”

As of this writing, the counting of the votes have not been finished yet, although it is quite inconceivable that our pro-life bets from the Ang Kapatiran will garner enough votes even to reach the top 20. There are six known anti-RH and six known pro-RH in the so-called magic 12. Risa Hontiveros, a staunch supporter of the RH law, is not on that list, at least. But the anti-life partylists are lording it over the pro-life ones, despite BUHAY claiming the top votes.

Let it be clear: it has been an honor working for the election of JC Delosreyes, Lito Yap David, and Marwil Llasos, and to help people realize that there are alternatives to the dirty politics and politicians we have today. But with limited means and meager funds, there’s only so much we can do to promote these gentlemen. It is a sad fact that the collective efforts of so many unnamed and unsung volunteers all toiling for the worthiest of causes – that is, to have the three elected to the Senate – were not enough to accomplish our goals.

But, really, what happened to the Catholic Vote?

There will be countless hours spent on evaluating and re-evaluating what had transpired in this election. There will be discussions and criticisms, to point out where we have gone wrong, and to be fair, what we had done right, no matter how grim this reality set upon us is playing. It is essential, however, that in these evaluations, that the truth, no matter how painful, should be tackled.

Some of these hard truths are:

The Power of the Catholic Vote comes from the lay, primarily. The lay, however waited for the parish priests to do something, and the parish priests waited for their bishops to say something. Everybody kept waiting while nothing was happening.

Any lay initiative, however, is empowered or deflated depending on the support, or non-support, of the bishop in their diocese. A vibrant diocese like Bacolod has active lay organizations supported by their bishop. On the other hand, there were many dioceses that promised to come up with their own Team Patay posters but failed to deliver on their promises. The result was broken momentum.

There has to be a better way of dividing up the votes between the dioceses in order to ascertain that there is an orderly and accountable fashion of calculating the votes for all the pro-life partylists. This way, even the smaller pro-life partylists who do not have the resources to do a proper campaign like the big ones are assured of votes – ergo, more seats in congress.

We have to start early. Until the idea of the Catholic Vote permeates in every person and in every Catholic, elections will still be a popularity contest, as proven by this year’s elections. Those who are to be candidates in 2016 should be seen on TV, print media, and social media, and heard on the radio starting tomorrow. Let them comment on every current issue. Let them get enough air time. Blog about them. Talk about them. By 2016 our candidates should be household names.

We are in serious need of a PR machine, one that would coordinate our interviews, activities, launchings, press releases, and events. Even our bishops need to be trained in the art and science of the interview, for one. Many of the spins and distorted media stories stem from poor interviews from clueless clergy and even laity. We need the services of a group who could revamp our image.

We have a long way to go as far as the Catholic Vote is concerned. The results this year are dismal and disappointing, but this is no reason to be disheartened.

To say that our efforts have been in vain, is a big mistake. The friend from Macau, our volunteers in Dagupan and Surigao Del Sur, the young voter from Rizal who made his own Ang Kapatiran and Ang Prolife Partylist because the tarps he got from us were stolen from his gate; the Carmelite nuns in Cebu who made their own campaign jingle in Cebuano for the three of them, the Kapanalig listeners of Radio Veritas and the numerous people who believed in the principles they so courageously fought for: Ang Kapatiran lives inside their hearts, and that flame will be passed on, never to be extinguished. Their efforts will not be for naught, for these people took a stand against dynasties, against corruption, against injustice, and against laws that undermine the dignity of the Filipino.

If we are to look for better results in 2016, we should start working now. Tomorrow begins today.

The current election period reminds us of those times when the circus came to town. There are lots of glitz, glamour, and entertainment. There are good guys, and those who claim that they are the good guys. There are lots of animals too, crocs being the most numerous. And of course, there are clowns.

Many people are slowly waking up to the fact that politics, in general, and elections, in particular, breeds crooks and vipers among men. How else can you explain a man running for a senate seat, spending millions on ads on both TV and print, just to land a job at the senate whose collective pay for the next six years is no more than 7 million, while a 30-second TV ad costs at least 2-3 million?

Needless to say that there are changes in our electoral process that are necessary in order to ensure that the elections are not used to perpetuate this systemic cycle of corruption and greed that siphons the wealth of the country to the bank accounts of the rich, while the poor remains hungry and hopeless. Here are some of the proposed changes that are necessary in order to effect bigger changes in our country:

Make the COMELEC enforce a strict limit on ads. Candidate A has all the right qualifications, but is a relative unknown, an ordinary worker who has neither funds nor people for the campaign machinery. Candidate B is a traditional dirty politician who has made money out of his position in the government, and is running once again. In the end, no one knows who Candidate A is, while the whole town is plastered with Candidate B’s posters. There is no question who will be the more likely winner here. By limiting the ads, it helps put poorer and lesser known candidates on a more level playing field with the rich, traditional politicians.

Let there be a national debate between candidates, or several debates. Enforce a strict rule: non-participation in the debate means harsher penalties, like more limits on ads. These debates should be a way for people to discern better who among the candidates are more knowledgeable about the issues concerning our country.

Abolish the Pork Barrel system. This way the likelihood that a person running for public office will make himself rich with all the dirty deals and perks that go with the pork barrel system is very unlikely. The reason for running for public office is for public service, and to help your constituents, not to help yourself with the public funds.

Pass the Anti-Dynasty bill. Certain individuals are only allowed a certain number of terms in office, and there are good reasons for this. To circumvent this, people put their wives, sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren to public office. As candidate for senator JC delos Reyes says, “Dynasties are an insult to the Filipino people. Para bang sila lang ang magaling, sila lang ang marunong.”

Stop the surveys. While we do not question their methodologies, which we are quite sure are sound, we have to ask, to what end do these surveys are being done? These surveys are also thought of as more of a mind-conditioning statistics; if Candidate B does well in surveys, and he should with all his money and his machinery to promote himself, the more that the people will be inclined to vote for him, because of the Pinoy’s mentality to go with the winner, or “doon ako sa panalo” attitude.

6. Obtain the Source Code. The COMELEC has done its best to sweep the PCOS issue under the rug and what you have are elections that lack integrity. The voting process is supposed to be a sacred activity, necessary for nation-building. If the process itself is questionable, then perhaps we should look into it and see how we can make it more believable. Au contraire, those who are supposed to guard the integrity of this process are turning a blind eye on this issue of integrity. It happened in Compostela, it can happen anywhere. Without the source code, however, no thanks to Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems, we will be clutching at straws, and all hopes of honest and accurate elections are gone.

We are sure that there are more changes needed in order to clean up our elections and our politics altogether. We can begin with these 6 basic changes, or at least try to achieve most of the items on this list. Elections are supposed to be the chance of the ordinary Juan to effect change in this country. The way things are going, our elections leave much for improvement.

In fact our elections have become a travesty.

From the moment of conception, from that time when the cells divide to create a new life that is you, God has already thought about you; who you are, and the purpose of your life. The circumstances of your conception may be accidental or less than ideal (rape, unplanned pregnancy), but with God, the author of life, there are no accidents. He has set you apart and put in your heart a purpose, a mission that you will carry out in your life. Whether it is to be a great teacher, a caring mentor, an inspiring author, a hard-working engineer, or a loving parent, we all set the world on fire by living out that purpose God has put in our lives from that moment of conception.

This is the reason why abortion is such a great sin. Not only because we murder a helpless human being who was made in the image and likeness of God, but because we have just destroyed the purpose for which that person was conceived. That person could have been a great father, a great friend, a great person whom many will look up to and emulate; abortion makes sure that the person will never be what God meant him to be.

For this reason, we must oppose abortion with everything we got. This is a generation that is brokenhearted over dogs and cats we see in the internet being maltreated or abused, but does not give the same kind of importance over the murder of his own kind. Planned Parenthood has admitted to aborting millions in 2012 alone, at a rate of 1 abortion every 94 seconds – and yet we have yet to see our brothers up in arms over this genocide the way we see them being so passionately involved when animals are being cruelly treated.

The abortion mentality always start with the contraceptive culture. By choosing to use contraceptives, there is a willful action to avoid having children. The contraceptive culture takes this simple avoidance of children and makes it a culture of not wanting children at all. When contraceptives fail and the woman gets pregnant, what is the next, logical step? Abortion.

This is why here in our country, we oppose the RH law. Any person claiming to be Catholic and is supportive of this immoral law, or worse, asking her fellow Catholics to support the RH law, is in grave error. What is legal is not necessarily moral. What matters is that we follow the laws set by God, and not the laws set by men. Many will face persecution and suffering for opposing the RH law, but their sacrifice will not be in vain, if it means that the next generation of Filipinos will be born to see the light of day.

This coming May elections will have far-reaching effects. Either we elect people who support the contraceptive culture, and will in turn support immoral and ungodly laws like divorce, abortion, same-sex unions, and euthanasia, or we vote for God-fearing people who will uphold the constitution and put God in the center of this government. The choice is ours, and always has been.

Filipinos have long identified with the suffering Christ, and the millions of devotees flocking Quiapo on the feast of the Black Nazarene is a testament to that. The Filipino way of life can be considered the way of the cross because of its many hardships and trials. For the vast majority, the crosses seem to be their permanent companion on their journey; this is perhaps why the ordinary pinoy is aptly named Juan dela Cruz.
If the events of the past few weeks are to be an indication, then we pinoys are headed towards crucifixion once more, with no resurection in sight.

Kristel Tejada committed suicide because she was unable to pay her dues at school. In a perfect world, state universities cater to the poor who need their education in order for them to rise out of poverty. Instead, our state universities are full of rich people who can afford to enrol in other universities and colleges, while the poor are left out, unable to pay their tuition, and unable to get the much-needed education.

Ex-couple Kris Aquino and James Yap, and present-day couple Senator Chiz Escudero and Heart Evangelista hogged the limelight last week. In a time when the country was reeling from the issues of Sabah and Kristel, the media, ever the right-hand of those in power, decided that the stories of those two couples are more news-worthy than the plight of those who are suffering. Suddenly, we are thrown back into the Roman times, when bread and circus were all that was necessary to pacify the hungry and the poor, without addressing their problems at all.

News broke out that President Aquino vetoed the Magna Carta of the Poor, not because it was a bad law, but because there was no budget for it, according to him. He had no qualms about passing the RH law, however, which would require billions from the government, apart from the 21 billion already alloted to the DOH for RH-related services.

If this were Daang Matuwid, then it is truly despicable.

The way things are going, the king and his cohorts get fat and drunk with power, the poor are left to carry cross after cross, and the media shows nothing about this present reality. The oligarchs and the thieves in power drive the nail and thrust the spear deeper into the body of the crucified Filipino people.

Today, we celebrate the Day of the Unborn, which is also the feast of the Annunciation, the day when the angel Gabriel told Mary about God’s plans for her, and her part in salvation history. Nine months later, we celebrate with joy and a festive spirit the birth of our Lord into this world.

God had plans for Mary and her future child, but this is an event that is not exclusive to the Mother of God, nor is Jeremiah 1:5, which says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” exclusive to future prophets. The truth is that God has already planned something for us even before all of us were born. As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said:

All of us were born as fathers, or mothers, or siblings, or dear friends to other people. In this way, we have enriched other people with our lives, especially because we were all born in the image and likeness of God. Imagine the lives of the people around us, had we not been born! There are no accidents, no mistakes. The circumstances of our conception, in our own frail understanding, may be called accidental, but every human life formed in the recesses of the mother’s womb was formed by God’s finger. Imagine, we bear God’s very own DNA in our own humanity!

The world, however, has turned its back on this reality, and have forgotten that we are all brothers and sisters who belong to one Father. Instead, they have looked upon the unborn as punishments, infants and children as mere ‘mouths to feed.’ They looked upon the poor, the destitute, the sick, and those with disabilities as lesser humans. Thus, the concepts of overpopulation and family planning came to be. All of a sudden, it became necessary, even vogue, to cut down the number of children, in the name of ‘sustainable development.’

In the name of development and choice, governments fund abortion for their citizens.

Planned Parenthood reported that in 2012 alone, they aborted babies at an unprecedent rate: 1 baby aborted every 90 seconds or so. Then came reports that China has aborted more than 300 milion babies since the inception of the one-child policy. Such barbaric ways have no place in this era of technology and civility, but sadly these practices happen day in and day out

In our country, there is no way that an abortion law would pass easily. Even our most pro-choice leaders would admit to such. It all starts with a very simple proposition: “you can choose to have children, or you can choose to not have children. The power is yours. Take the pill. There are no consequences, there are no effects. This pill, this piece of rubber, will give you the choice you never had.”

Of course, we all know that there ARE consequences to contraception, many of them severe, like demographic winter, in the bigger scale, and breast cancer, on the smaller scale. Flying in the face of their intended goal, contraception actually increases abortion rates. The next phase is for groups to clamor for the legalization of abortion, “to save women’s lives” from unsafe, illegal abortions. The logic is that we should legalize murder because there are far too many women who are victims because of the failure to legalize it.

Moreover, those groups who lobbied for the RH law are in fact themselves lobbying for the crafting of abortion laws in countries that do not have them. It is similar to playing chess, and these pro RH groups have positioned themselves for a checkmate. First, it’s the passage of the RH law, second is the abolition of all laws that will make abortion unconstitutional, all in the name of ‘choice’ and ‘protection of the woman.’

What makes abortion diabolical is not only the fact that abortion destroys human life that carries God’s image; it also destroys the innate plan that the child is supposed to carry out in his life. Every child aborted is a potential teacher who will inspire her students to be the best that they can be and set the world ablaze; or a doctor who saves lives, or a nurse who will comfort her patients in their time of pain; she could be a scientist, or an astronaut, or a painter whose art lets us marvel at the beauty of creation.

Or he could simply be a loving father, she, a loving mother. They, in turn, would be the start of generations of a God-fearing people who live their lives according to the teachings of Christ.

Abortion prevents all that from happening. An untimely end to what was supposed to be the beginning of life.

This is the reason why, on this day of the unborn, we look to ourselves, and ask one another: Have I done my part in promoting a culture of life? Have I stood defiant against this culture of death, whose shadow looms over our society?

On this day of the unborn, we urge everyone to be defenders of those who cannot defend themselves, to be the bastion of strength for those who are weak, and to fight for the right to live of those who cannot speak for this right.

Pro Life Philippines is delighted that the Supreme Court has decided to issue a status quo ante order on the Reproductive Health (RH) law signed by President Benigno Aquino III last December.

The Justices voted 10-5 in favor of temporarily suspending the implementation of the RH law for the next four months, or 120 days.

Those who voted for the suspension of RH were:

1) Teresita de Castro

2) Arturo Brion,

3) Lucas Bersamin

4) Diosdado Peralta

5) Presbitero Velasco Jr.

6) Roberto Abad

7) Bienvenido Reyes

8.) Jose Mendoza

9) Jose Perez

10) Martin Villarama Jr.

The 5 justices who voted against this were: Ma. Lourdes Sereno, Antonio Carpio, Mariano del Castillo, Marvic Leonen and Estela Perlas-Bernabe.

We must use this time, however, in order to plan, to strategize, to mobilize, to regroup, and to pray. The supporters of RH will not stop until every letter of the law is implemented and the culture of death reign in our nation. This is a time for thanking God and our Blessed Mother on this feast of St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. This is also a time for praying for the all the Supreme Court justices that they may continue to uphold the constitution and that those in power will do their utmost to protect the weak and the poor.

The suspension comes at a very opportune day: on the feast of St. Joseph, who was the foster father of Christ, and one who exemplified not only total obedience to God but also showed us what true responsible parenthood is: to follow God’s will, first and foremost, and second, to educate and take care of your child so that he may imbibe Godly values that he will guide him all his life.

We pray that our country may continue to step towards the right path, guided by the light of Christ and strengthened by the values handed down to us by our forefathers.

To quote Charles Dickens:

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way…”

These are times of both darkness and opportunity. The RH bill has been passed and is now called RA 10354, and with it loom other anti-life bills like the divorce bill and the same sex marriage bill. These and other immoral and unjust legislation are waiting passage by people who want to promote the culture of death in our county. We are facing very grave threats to the future of our society and our family.

However, God has not forgotten His people. He sends them people who can lead them to a better country, a country that is both prosperous and God-fearing. These men, a few good men among many who are wicked and corrupt, are men of sound principle and good character They will serve us well in the senate, if voted.

1. JC delos Reyes

Born February 14, 1970, he studied in Ateneo de Manila for his elementary education, and graduated in De la Salle for high school. He finished his B.A. in Theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. In 1999 he finished his post-graduate studies in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines and has a law degree from Saint Louis University, Baguio City. In 1995, he ran and was elected City Councilor of Olongapo. During his term, he focused on the poor, the youth and cooperatives.

In 1996, JC met Nandy Pacheco in the National Renewal Movement and in late 2003, Norman Cabrera for Central Luzon, JC de los Reyes for Northern Luzon and Fr. Leonardo Polinar for the Visayas and Mindanao gathered the needed signatures for the accreditation of Alliance for the Common Good or Ang Kapatiran Party. It was finally accredited by COMELEC on 8 May 2004 or 2 days before the 10 May 2004 elections. After a decade absent from local politics, JC ran under Kapatiran party in the 2007 elections and, among the party’s 30 local and national candidates, he was Kapatiran’s lone winner.

He campaigned against illegal drugs, rampant violations of worker’s rights at Hanjin and was outspoken against illegal fish cages in Olongapo. More recently, he also led protests against the proposed coal power plant and criticized government’s plan to open more casinos in Subic. He filed numerous cases before the Ombudsman against high ranking government officials where he himself was complainant.

In the 2010 national elections, he was the youngest presidential candidate who led the charge for new politics, together with a vice-president, 8 senatorial and 50 local candidates. Though they lost the election, they won the awareness of the people on issues such as the RH bill, the political dynasties issue, the FOI and the need for platform and principles based politics.

2. Marwil Llasos

Atty. Llasos extends his services to the Philippine Deaf Resources Center.

Atty. Marwil Llasos served as Executive Assistant and Legal Consultant in the Department of Agrarian Reform from 2000-2002. He appeared as a Resource Person in the House of Representatives Committee on Agrarian Reform. Atty. Llasos also served as Secretary to the Sub-Committee on the Rules on Criminal Procedure of the Supreme Court.

3. Lito David

5. Ed Tirona

We urge all our voters to go vote and actively campaign for these gentlemen for senator and Ang Prolife for partylist. These men and women have the courage to step up and serve the nation; what they lack is the campaign resources and machinery in order to reach out to the people whose votes we need. For this reason, we ask that we all be volunteers for a common cause from this moment forward: to see these brave men and women elected into office and to truly represent the people, to be the voice and the protector of those who cannot fight for themselves.

Other Candidates

Pro-Life Philippines decided to endorse these 5 candidates as they were key figures who offered great assistance to the pro-life side in our battle against the RH law. Pro-Life Philippines endorses them because of their dedication and commitment towards real poverty alleviation through education and job creation.

To our dear Senators who Voted NO TO RH BILL,

GREETINGS!

We are men and women of Catholic Philippines – a movement now organized to rally Filipino Catholics from all over the country, from all sectors of society and from all walks of life to unite for the Philippines and the Catholic faith. . We aim to “reclaim the Philippines as a truly Catholic nation” and to realize a solid Catholic vote and voice.

Please allow us to express through this letter, our most profound appreciation as well as our admiration for your most admirable and valiant stand against the RH bill to the very end. Armed with rich character, blessed wisdom, and inspired courage, bravely faced the overwhelming challenge – never giving up, never giving in. Despite the passage of the law, in the eyes of God and your fellow believers, you are truly victorious and honorable. We believe that this momentary set back has a purpose that the Almighty is bound to reveal in due time. With this, you have given us renewed hope that we still have leaders in the country whom we can trust and rely on to defend human life, human dignity, truth, justice and the integrity of the family, all treasured in our culture and faith.

Again, we thank you from the depths of our hearts for showing us and the whole nation and the world that not only what a true Filipino is but above all what a true son or daughter of God ought to be. We fervently ask you to continue the fight with even more fervor as we assure you that you will never be alone. There are millions of us praying and willing to work and fight shoulder to shoulder with you. We honor you and we owe you a great debt of gratitude and joining you in this continuing struggle will be the least that we can do to repay you.

MABUHAY AT PAGPALAIN NAWA KAYO NG MAYKAPAL!

In Christ,

To our dear 79 Congressmen & Congresswomen who Voted NO TO RH BILL,

“It is not titles that honor men, but men that honor titles.”

When the House of Representatives voted on the 3rd and final reading of the RH Bill, there were 79, out of the 104 who had originally voted against the bill on second reading, who were left standing. There they stood for the truth, for principles and values foreign to others, despite all the pressures. Men and women of character, wisdom, and courage in a moral and political environment gone hostile to all the virtues. The epitome of the dreams and aspirations of our countrymen, the embodiment of vigilance against despotism and oppression, the paragons of courage and patriotism.

You were among the 79. You, along with 78 others, gave more than due honor not only to your title as our people’s representative but above all to our Christian and patriotic heritage. You showed our country and the world that despite all the seemingly insurmountable problems we face, there is still hope for the future after all. By your unwavering stand against the RH bill, you showed our people that we still have men and women in our midst who can make this country what it deserves to be—–leaders who will do everything to defend human life and human dignity, truth and justice, no matter the cost; who will put service and the common good above self or all other interests; who will not bow to any form of dictatorship or imperialism.

We come from different groups, different backgrounds, and different places. But we are all Filipinos, and we thank you from the depths of our hearts for showing the whole country and the world not only what a true Filipino is but above all what a true son or daughter of God is. In the darkest moment of our most recent history you shone like stars, soared like eagles and roared like lions, courageous and indomitable in the face of evil. The nation owes you a debt of gratitude which it shall be our honor and pride to try to repay in every way we can.

With all our love and prayers.

Very sincerely yours
