PopCom is a Second Rate, Trying Hard Copycat
We Filipinos are so good at imitating everything western. Everything, from films to fashion, from culture to food. As they say, imitation is the best form of flattery, and we have flattered our Caucasian brothers and sung their praises all the way to the high heavens. One of the things we sincerely wish we didn’t copy from them is the PopCom’s penchant for population scaremongering. They simply have to tell you the worst things in order to get the public to accept the population control…
Welcoming the 100 Millionth Baby
Pro-life Philippines would like to officially welcome the 100 millionth Pinoy baby named Chonalyn, born this week. How the government has determined this baby as the 100 millionth, we do not know. Regardless, whether the baby really is the proverbial hundred millionth child or not, we would like to tell Chonalyn: we are glad that you were born. Happy birthday to you! Our RH supporters, however, don’t seem too happy with Chonalyn’s birth. Ever the party poopers, they accompany reports of her birth with their sense of impending doom…
Frequently Asked Questions about the Philippine Population and its implications
1. We’re approaching 100 million! Is there reason to be scared? Fear usually comes from misunderstanding the issue. No thanks to Thomas Malthus and Paul Ehrlich who both said that runaway population growth (to borrow the term from the media) will lead to widespread hunger, famine, and disease. Ehrlic said this will happen in the 70s. It did not happen. He said it will happen in the 80s. It did not happen. Today, the media, fueled by ignorance and denial of many people, still say that this will happen in the future, but by now we already know not to…
Pointless Propaganda
Some of us may have already seen the DOH-sponsored Family Planning advertisement shown at the major networks. In the ad, a child is singing a nursery-rhyme kind of song where she narrates her and her families struggles against poverty all because her parents failed to use a family planning method to limit their children. The ad itself is loaded with reproductive health propaganda, some of which we have already debunked completely the past few years. The DOH, and in effect, this government, is peddling the same anti-poor programs that will leave the poor even poorer in the next few…

A Pro-Life Supreme Court’s Decision on RH
Depending on what paper or article you have read for the past few days, you might have concluded by now which side of the RH slugfest won. Or, like many, you’re still confused and/or undecided about it. On one hand, the mere declaration of the Supreme Court saying that the RH law was “not unconstitutional” should have been enough to silence the critics. On the other hand, there were provisions from the original law that were declared unconstitutional, and the pro-life side was claiming victory too,…
The Bishop’s Move
His eyes squinted as the glorious rays of the morning sunshine hit his face. Around him was a sizeable group of men, women, children, youngsters, and elders; they all came to participate in that morning’s event: A Million Prayers, Walk for Life. He could tell that his presence made so much difference to the people around him; it wasn’t easy being there while a nationwide conference was being held in his own diocese. But still, he managed to find time to be with these band of prayer warriors, many of them grizzled veterans of this fight against RH. One can…
