Hundreds of Dead Newborn Girls Dumped in Garbage Piles in Pakistan Because of Preference for Boys

The Daily Mail reports hundreds of dead newborn babies – almost all of whom were girls – were discovered in garbage dumps in several major cities in 2017. Leading the cause to end infanticide in Pakistan are the Edhi Foundation and Chhipa Welfare Foundation. Their staff tell horrifying stories about finding newborn babies with their throats cut and watching a religious leader call for a baby to be stoned to death because the baby was assumed to be “illegitimate.” The groups said a cultural preference for male children, poverty and harsh punishments for out-of-wedlock children are some of the reasons for…

Pope Francis declares blind 14th-century lay Dominican a saint

VATICAN— Pope Francis declared a blind 14th-century Italian lay Dominican a saint Saturday using a process known as “equipollent” canonization. The Holy See press office said April 24 that the pope had authorized the extension of the liturgical cult of Blessed Margaret of Castello to the universal Church during a Saturday morning meeting with Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints. She will now be inscribed among the saints via the procedure also called “equivalent” canonization, where the requirement for a miracle attributed to the candidate’s intercession is waived. Margaret of Castello was born blind and…

Tribute to Jeanette Ealdama ( Prolife Inspiration )

” You seem to have a problem. Allow us to help you. Here is a telephone number of someone who will assist you in your situation now”, Jeanette Ealdama gently speaks with a young woman buying abortive tablets from herbal vendor in Quiapo. Jeanette has been an active volunteer of Prolife Philippines for the past twenty years. Having ten children to raise has not deprived her of time to counsel in one of our crisis pregnancy centers or to lecture on prolife values to teens and couples in depressed communities. She attends prolife seminars and conferences for her own growth…

‘Courageous prophet’: Tributes pour in for Archbishop Cruz

Aug 28, 2020

Tributes poured in for a “courageous prophet” who braved threats and harassment in fighting the social ills in the country. Archbishop Oscar Cruz did not aim to overhaul society when he embarked a crusade against gambling in early 2000. His goal was to awaken the people to their exploitation by the gambling lords and their protectors in government. Those who knew him have nothing but praises after he died in a hospital due to complications from the coronavirus disease on Aug. 26. Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan said his predecessor was “a faithful shepherd” and “a patriot and pastor”….
