  • The meaning of ‘the common good’

Being Right By Jemy Gatdula This is a topic I’ve written about previously but feel it bears revisiting. The term “common good” is quite fashionable nowadays. From the environment to education reform, common good has been uttered to add credibility to whatever measure is being proposed. Unfortunately, there is a need to clarify what is really meant by the term “common good.” To start, let us discuss another oft-used phrase: Salus populi est supreme lex, which many people understand as “the will of the people is the supreme law.” Which is not really the case. The closer translation goes like…

  • Pre-Valentine’s Candy-giving to tackle ‘enemy’ of true love

For years, pro-life volunteers have been giving away free candy on Valentine’s Day to promote the value of waiting for true love, sacrifice, and chastity among the youth. MANILA – A few days before Valentine’s Day, young people will be giving away candy not just to promote true, chaste love but to speak up against pornography, what many consider an “enemy of true, self-giving love.” “Porn is the enemy of true love because the end point of porn is almost always masturbation, or self-pleasuring, while love needs both men and women, but especially the men, to be selfless and to…

Dec 21, 2017

In a year that abortion businesses attempted to expand in America, the actual number of abortion facilities decreased by 27 clinics over 2016 totals. Closures far outpaced newly opened abortion facilities in 2017. In all, 49 abortion facilities — 35 surgical and 14 medication only clinics — closed or halted abortion services. Only eight new surgical abortion facilities were opened, along with eleven new medication abortion facilities. There was also some movement between categories. Fourteen surgical abortion facilities now only conduct medication abortions, while five medication abortion facilities added surgical abortions. These encouraging statistics and more were verified through an…
