Pope Francis: Priests, bishops, and married couples ‘co-responsible’ for the family

VATICAN— Pope Francis on Wednesday urged priests, bishops, and married couples to work in cooperation to strengthen the life of the Church through the goods of marriage and family. In a video message to an online forum taking place this week, the pope said that “the family is ‘a domestic Church,’ the place in which the sacramental presence of Christ acts between spouses and between parents and children.” “In this sense,” he continued, “‘the experience of love in families is a perennial source of strength for the life of the Church,’ constantly enriched by the life of all the domestic…

Tarlac’s Marian image receives pontifical coronation

The venerated image of Mater Dolorosa de Capas has received a canonical coronation over the weekend. Archbishop Charles Brown, apostolic nuncio to the Philippines, crowned the image during Mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Tarlac City on June 5. In his homily, the nuncio asked the faithful to turn to Mary to pray for “our difficulties, the sorrows, the sadness of our human lives”. “Let us allow her to present them to Jesus, the Heavenly Father,” Brown said. “Let us remember that in our Catholic faith, sorrow will be turned into joy. That joy will have the last word.”…

Mother Changed Her Mind, Saved Her Baby From Abortion: “I Love Her With All My Heart”

A young woman who felt like she had no choice took the abortion pill and had immediate regret. But her local pregnancy help organization was there for her, and between the support she received there and the life-saving abortion pill reversal (APR) protocol, she has her little girl. Ayah said her daughter is everything to her, and now she wants to show her little girl that “anything in the world is possible.” “She’s my reason for everything that I do,” Ayah said. “She’s my little girl. And I love her with all of my heart. I can never imagine my…

Babies Conceived in Rape Shouldn’t be Aborted Just Because of Their Father’s Crime

When it comes to gun violence in schools, people get outraged about children in danger of losing their lives. It’s a worthy concern. According to Education Week, in 2018 28 students were killed in school shootings, while so far in 2019, 2 children have been killed. That is tragic. But it’s not about the math; it’s about the loss of life … and 30 lives forever gone are 30 too many. But have you noticed that when it comes to babies born during abortions — or viable babies aborted after 20 weeks — all you hear is that it’s not…

High School Puts Teacher on Leave After Inviting Pro-Life Group to Address Health Class

A South Bend, Indiana teacher is being punished this week after inviting a pro-life organization to give a presentation to a high school health class. The South Bend Tribune reports district leaders placed the Clay High School teacher on administrative leave because they said the presentation by Right to Life Michiana on Tuesday violated school policies. The school district did not release the teacher’s name. A district spokesperson said teachers are required to seek approval from the principal if they want outside speakers to come into the classroom. According to the district, school policy also requires that parents be notified in…

Pope Francis declares blind 14th-century lay Dominican a saint

Apr 26, 2021

VATICAN— Pope Francis declared a blind 14th-century Italian lay Dominican a saint Saturday using a process known as “equipollent” canonization. The Holy See press office said April 24 that the pope had authorized the extension of the liturgical cult of Blessed Margaret of Castello to the universal Church during a Saturday morning meeting with Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints. She will now be inscribed among the saints via the procedure also called “equivalent” canonization, where the requirement for a miracle attributed to the candidate’s intercession is waived. Margaret of Castello was born blind and…
