Dear Friends, We can never greet each other enough of the Merry Christmases and the Christ’s peace be with us always for we are born again each time. Christ lives and dies in us. There is so much to celebrate even with all the difficulties we have been through this year. There is so much to be faithful about because we know that God will never leave us. There so much to be hopeful about as we are certain that Christ will never fail us. And there is so much to love about as His love for us…

Greetings! I am writing this letter to express my STRONG OPPOSITION to all proposed bills to decriminalize or legalize abortion (induced or on-demand) in the Philippines for the following reasons: 1. The fetus is NOT just a part of a pregnant woman’s body that she can dispose of for any reason. The embryo, fetus or unborn baby has a unique DNA derived from paternal and maternal DNA. Even if the fetus is attached to the woman’s body via the placenta, the fetal DNA is distinct from the pregnant woman’s DNA. As such, a woman cannot claim that the fetus in…
A Catholic priest said that the teenage pregnancy surge only proves what they have been saying all along about the “reproductive health” law: it’s not the solution. Amidst efforts of the government to minimize unwanted teenage pregnancies, numbers continue to rise for the past years in the country. Fr. Melvin Castro, spiritual director of Pro-life Philippine, said it only shows that the RH law is not as effective as it was touted. “One of the key issues presented at the height of the debate (on RH) is that it will precisely avoid teenage pregnancy. The opposite is happening now,” Fr….

A Catholic bishop has called on the public to unite against the passage of a new anti-terrorism measure which he branded as “vague”. Bishop Gerardo Alminaza of San Carlos has warned that no one is exempted from its “dangerous” provisions even church people. “It is high time that citizens and members of civil society organizations set aside their differences to combat the passage of this bill,” Alminaza said. “Now more than ever, we need the power of dissenting voices in the current state of political and public health in our country,” he said. While the fight against terrorism is legitimate…

A Catholic priest urged Senator Riza Hontiveros not to eschew misrepresentation on divorce after claiming that it is “pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-children”. Fr. Jerome Secillano, Executive Secretary of the bishops’ public affairs committee, said that such claim contradicts the provisions of the 1987 Constitution. “Is she saying now that the Family Code and our Constitution are anti-family, anti-marriage, and anti-children since they do not guarantee divorce?” Secillano said. “Divorce can never be pro-marriage, pro-family, and pro-children,” he said. “Let’s not twist facts just to suit a particular agenda.” On the other hand, the priest stressed that legalizing divorce in the…
